What’s the Latest News for March 2024?

This edition covers the following 5 topics:

World Cup Schedule News, Views & Insights

As we all know, the schedule was released on February 5th. We learned the dates and host cities for all matches, where the host countries will play all their Group Stage matches, who is hosting the final and more.

In addition to the obvious and the official schedule, we studied the information, tested a handful of alternative visuals and created some other interesting insight. We even built a timelapse visual that has enabled us to start planning which Host Cities we’ll visit. You can check this info here:

Copa America Tickets & World Cup Comparisons

Copa 2024 tickets went on sale February 28th to the general public (and February 22nd to anyone with Presale Access). For many fans, they were caught by surprise of the high prices, the lack of available tickets to the general public or both.

Questions and comments were abuzz about what this means for the 2026 World Cup since USA is hosting the majority of the matches.

We may hold our breaths while saying this, but there are a few key differences between FIFA and CONMEBOL operating tickets that make a FIFA tournament more favorable to the fans.

FIFA is Hiring For the 2026 World Cup

You can stay up to date and browse all the 2026 FIFA jobs on their career site.

We found it quite interesting that at the start of 2024, FIFA was hiring to start building out their ticketing team. Why is that interesting? Because many people send us inquiries asking for tickets and seem baffled to learn that they likely do not go on sale until Fall 2025. 😎

Another FIFA 2026 team being built is the Volunteer team. The Volunteer team enables fans a real way to connect and contribute to the event of a lifetime as not everyone will gain access to a stadium and match. It makes it feel real!

Latest Qatar 2022 Documentaries

Can you ever really get enough of the World Cup? Below are links to descriptions of the 3 top films for Qatar 2022, with Apple releasing “Rise of the Legend” the last week of February 2024. We’ve only seen “Captains” on Netflix and loved it.

Bonus Drop

  1. Brazil beat Italy and Iran finished 3rd in the 2024 Beach Soccer World Cup held in Dubai. If you love bicycle kicks and flair with your goals, watch some highlights.

  2. If you didn’t pay attention to this year’s AFCON tournament, it was wild. For neutrals, the story of Sebastian Haller overcoming cancer and being the hero in the semi-finals and finals for Ivory Coast is what makes sports fun.

Side note, we may start a new savings bucket with Ally to save for the 2027 AFCON in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania. Who’s in? 😁

  3. During Qatar 2022, we met people that are keen on each World Cup’s unique collectibles, like the posters. We just so happened to come across Classic Football Shirts 1982 World Cup posters for sale.
